Field Inspection Jobs

This is a fairly lucrative career to get into with a shoestring budget and do it from home. You can get into this business in a big way and easily make it a full-time and extremely interesting career. Part-time is good too for people that want to work after hours and weekends starting out.

You may be wondering what a field inspector actually does. They actually perform inspections of homes, businesses and equipment verification for the finance and insurance industry as well as for banks and mortgage companies.

The majority of your training for field inspection jobs comes from actually doing the job. You won't have to have special training or a degree. If there is any training required by a particular firm they will provide it and their procedures or guidelines to the inspection.

You will need some basic equipment that most people have already. This would be a computer with Internet access and a digital camera. Most any type of small digital camera will work as long as you know how to transfer the photos to your computer.

To find these jobs you can use the search feature on the computer and type in field inspection jobs or companies. You'll find a pretty lengthy list of companies seeking out people to do field inspection jobs.

You can choose your area to work in or as much of a coverage area as you are comfortable covering--whether it is only 5 to 10 miles from your home or even driving 100 miles to cover a larger town.

To start out you can do simple "drive by" projects. This is just to verify whether a property is vacant or occupied. Take a photo, send it to the company, via the computer and you may be asked to answer a few questions about the property; is it brick or vinyl or does it have any visible damage or create a hazard.

Then you can add more and more projects to your list as well as the type of tasks you're willing to perform.

You'll usually only get paid a flat rate fee for each job. Each one in itself is not a lot but once you learn to combine them you can make a decent income. After a company realizes you are reliable they will send more work your way.
